Tomorrow I am introducing my students to a special guest: Gallon Guy!
I hope my advisor thinks this is a good lesson because I do.
Hi everyone. I am creating a lesson based on pictographs and tables for my 3rd graders and I need some help formulating ideas that will be hands on and interactive for all of my students. This activity needs to be a short (10-15 min) HOOK that will get them excited for the rest of my activities. I’m having a mental block. Do you have any ideas?

Thank you,
Roxy
?
I spent to much time lecturing in the beginning and lost quite a few kids attention.

The hands on portion of the lesson went really well though and had the students engaged and asking each other questions, which is good. It also gave me a chance to walk around the classroom and help students understand the topic more clearly.

Lets hope tomorrows math lesson goes better!

I love these child-made geoboards! http://www.letthechildrenplay.net/2013/02/geo-boards-made-by-children.html
To leave meeting today my teacher had the students roll a dice and multiply the number on the dice by 4. If they got the answer correct they could go grab snack.
Mind once again blown!
The students are in 3rd grade!
