Design an activity with all children in mind. ~ Judy Richards

Child “accessible” is better wording then easier or hard.

garbage in. garbage out.

Math words of wisdom from Judy Richards

roxannewright:

   43

-

   17

———

Do not say that you can’t take 7 away from 3 because it is possible to get negative numbers.

Also do not say, “43 take away 17”

Try: “take 17 away from 43”   “43 minus 17”   or      ”43 subtract 17”

Manipulatives

“Manipulatives should be tools NOT a crutch!” ~Judy Richards

Use a number line with the game “Mother May I” (make sure negatives are in place).

Something is:

·      To Easy

·      ZOD (zone of development)

·      To Difficult ATPIT (at this point in time)

“hands-on and on screen learning go hand in hand”~ Judy Richards
